jtthompsonJames “J.T.” Thompson offers over 11 years of experience in instructing and setting-up members on personalized workouts. He charts and updates the members’ progress to help them obtain their fitness goals. He has helped weight train and condition numerous high school and collegiate athletes for various sports. J.T. holds a Bachelor’s of Science from George Mason University from the School of Nursing and Health Science. He has an additional degree in Physical Education/Health Fitness & Nutrition from Chowan College. He holds a personal training certification from the International Sports Conditioning Association.

We offer brand new top-of-the-line Life Fitness equipment. Our strength circuit offers a total body workout and is the ideal training solution for all levels of users. Our machines are user-friendly for beginners, yet still offer a workout challenge for the more experienced fanatic. Our cardio room boasts treadmills, elliptical gliders, Stairmasters, recumbent bicycles, standup bicycles and a rowing machine. Our cardio machines have a FlexDeckT Shock Absorption System to help reduce stress on joints and knees. To enhance your work-out, enjoy our three plasma TVs offering several entertainment choices.

Group Exercise Classes

We offer a range of group exercise classes: AMPD Resistance, Boot Camp, Circuit Training, Core De Force, Kettlebell AMPD, POUND, Step & Abs, Tabata, Tae Kwon Do, Tae Kwon Do Kids, Transform, and Yoga .

AMPD Resistance: Take great music and combine it with simple resistance band movements for a fun, effective total body workout.

Boot Camp: Pre-register and pay at the Front Desk for this challenging training class that will get you results.

Circuit Training: Fusion of cardio, strength, balance, and flexibility that incorporates an endless variety of exercises for a challenging, never-boring workout.

Core De Force: Mixed martial arts-inspired workout designed to slash inches off your waist, blast belly fat, and sculpt total body definition.

Kettlebell AMPD: Takes heart-pumping music and your favorite kettlebell moves and combines them into calorie torching fun!

POUND: The world’s first cardio jam session inspired by the infectious, energizing, and sweat-dripping fun of playing the drums.

Step & Abs: Combine traditional step aerobics with some abdominal work for a great workout.

Tabata: Tabata training is one of the most popular forms of high-intensity interval training (HIIT). It consists of eight rounds of ultra-high-intensity exercises in a specific 20-seconds-on, 10-seconds-off interval.

Taekwondo: A Korean martial art characterized by its emphasis on a fast kicking technique which helps enhance self-esteem by heightening your physical and mental powers.

Taekwondo Kids: A Korean martial art characterized adapted for children for fun, challenging exercise.

Transform: Unite sport and yoga in a refreshing new way. This class will engage your mind and body using sun salutations, plyometric hops and lunges, balance and strength poses, and twisting and lengthening positions.

Yoga: Learn the fundamental poses of yoga in order to build strength, increase flexibility, and find focus.

Tae Kwon Do

Culpeper Sport & Fitness now offers class on Mondays and Thursdays at 6:30, and are free to any fitness member (8 years and up). Click here for more info.

Our trainers will recognize your current fitness level, health concerns, and work with you toward your specific goals. It’s fun and the best way to get results. Our trainers are available most hours to conduct private or group sessions.

Training Policies

  • Personal Training is available to Culpeper Sport & Fitness members.
  • Please provide 24 hour notice of cancellation to avoid being charged for the session.
  • Packages expire 120 days from date of purchase.
  • Sessions are non-refundable and non-transferable.
